קטע מתוך סיפור ספרותי בכתב ערבי. מוזכרים בו: ג'אריה (במשמעות נערה או שפחה) שהייתה מינקת או יונקת; דמות ש"גידלה אותה יחד עם הע'ולאם" (נער או עבד); קליעה בקשת (אלרמי באלקוס); תחרות היאבקות (צראע) שבה ניצח הע'ולאם, ושמעו התפשט בכל הארץ; קאדי שאסר על מישהו להיאבק; הגעתו של מתאבק חדש לבצרה (שלכאורה היא מקום ההתרחשות), זר שאינו ערבי (עג'מי) מדילם; דמות הפונה בפומבי אל בני דילם (יא מעאשר אלדיל[מיין]!); הדובר מצהיר "נאבקתי בו במו ידיי"; שעת המשפט או ההכרעה "בין השניים"; ייתכן שמוזכרים סוסיהם (ח'יול) — ולכן אולי מדובר גם בהיאבקות על גבי סוסים; וכיצד הדילמי סטר או היכה (לטמה) את אבו אלחסן. על ייצוגים אמנותיים של היאבקות בתקופה הפאטמית ראו את מאמרו של ארנסט י' גרובה על שרטוט מתאבק במוזיאון לאמנות איסלאמית בקהיר; ולסקירה על ייצוגים ספרותיים של היאבקות בספרות הפרסית (יש לשים לב לקשר אל דילם המופיע בקטע זה) ראו את מאמרו של ה' א' צ'הבי על היאבקות ב"שאהנאמה" ובאפוסים הפרסיים המאוחרים.

Mentions: a jāriya (meaning either girl or female slave) who nursed or was nursed; someone who "brought her up with the ghulām (meaning either boy or male slave)"; archery (al-ramy bi-l-qaws); a wrestling match (ṣirāʿ) in which the ghulām was victorious, and his fame spread throughout the land; a qāḍī who forbade someone from wrestling; the arrival of a new wrestler (muṣāriʿ) in Baṣra (apparently the setting of the action), a non-Arab (ʿajamī) from Daylam; someone who publicly addresses the Dayl[amīs?] (yā maʿāshir al-Dayl[amiyyīn]!); the speaker declares that "I wrestled him with my own hands"; the time of judgment "between the two"; possibly their horses (khuyūl)—so perhaps there is also horseback wrestling here; and how the Daylamī slapped or struck (laṭama) Abū l-Ḥasan.
