תיאור

מסמך משפטי בערבית העוסק בצַ׳מאן (ערבות מס) ובצֻ׳מנאא׳ (ערבי מס). תיארוך: 1101–1121 לספירה, על בסיס אזכור הח'ליפה אלאמר (שלט בשנים 1101–1130) והווזיר אלאפצ'ל (כיהן בשנים 1094–1121) (בצד ה-verso, שורות 6–8). בצד ה-verso מופיע אקראר (הודאת חוב) שנעשה על ידי אברהים בן סלימאן, עלי בן חסן, ויחיא בן מוסא, ואולי עוד אדם נוסף (ייתכן שיש לחלק את השמות באופן שונה, שכן ה"וַ-"/וְ וה"בן"/בן נראים כמעט זהים). בצד ה-recto מופיעה סדרה של עדויות בגוף ראשון הקובעות: "נכחתי בכַּשְׁף (בדיקה/חקירה/סקר) הנזכר", ושכל מה ש"בו" מדויק, ושהאקראר של הצֻ׳מנאא׳ (המתייחס כנראה למסמך שב-verso?) מדויק. ההצהרות חתומות בהתאמה על ידי יחיא בן אסמאעיל בן מחמד בן [...]; ח'לף בן אברהים בן מבארכ (?); ואסמאעיל בן מוסא בן מחמד.

Princeton Geniza Project description: Legal document(s) in Arabic involving a ḍamān (tax guarantee) and ḍumanāʾ (tax guarantors). Dating: 1101–21 CE, based on the invocation of the caliph al-Āmir (r. 1101–30) and the vizier al-Afḍal (r. 1094–1121) (verso, ll. 6–8). Verso contains an iqrār (acknowledgment of debt) made by Ibrāhīm b. Sulaymān, ʿAlī b. Ḥasan, and Yaḥyā b. Mūsā, and perhaps another person (it's possible that the names are split differently, since the "wa-"/and and the "bin"/son-of look nearly identical). Recto contains a set of first-person testimonies stating, "I attended the aforementioned audit/investigation/survey (kashf)" and that everything "in it" is accurate and that the iqrār of the ḍumanāʾ (referring to the document on verso?) is accurate. The statements are signed respectively by Yaḥyā b. Ismāʿīl b. Muḥammad b. [...]; Khalaf b. Ibrāhīm b. Mubārak (?); and Ismāʿīl b. Mūsā b. Muḥammad. ASE/MR
