Princeton Geniza Project description: Bifolio with legal records. One record is preserved on recto, and probably two separate records on verso. Different hands on recto and verso. Dating: recto is dated Monday, 4 Av 1758 Seleucid = 17 July 1447 CE. Join: Adi Namia Kohen. Recto: A sort of food safety code. Mentions a group of people including Shemuel and Ṣedaqa known as ʿAwwām ('the swimmer/diver'), who take an oath by "the God of Israel who was revealed on Mount Sinai... and the Torah" that they will henceforth fry foods only in sesame oil (sīraj), whether eggplant, egg, mubaḥtara, taro (qulqās), or any other fried food, they will fry it only in sesame oil. Also, they must throw away all of their boiled dishes (masālīq) that are left over from the previous day. It then states that the oath was taken by ʿAbd al-Wāḥid Ibn al-Levi and ʿAbdallāh Qaṣṣār. "Mubaḥtara" derives from standard Arabic "mubaʿthara," i.e., scrambled eggs mixed with other items (source: Aklat Beirut on Youtube, https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ig54N_FTu_g). Witnesses: Shemuel b. Naṣrallāh al-Levi known as ʿAṭṭār; ʿAbdūn al-Kohen b. [...]. Verso, right side: It seems that a communal official undertakes to not miss any obligations on certain days, regardless of adverse weather, and that he will not get caught up in the drinking of wine. If he is witnessed violating this agreement, he will owe 1000 dirhams to the qodesh. Verso, left side: A person takes an oath "by the God of Israel" that he will not gossip about his friend/partner. Mentions the names Yosef Tājir, his brother(?) Ibrāhīm, and Farajallāh al-Neʾeman(?).
