מסמך משפטי: חוזה העסקה לשנה אחת לשירותיו של שוחט כשר. מקום: רשיד (רוזטה). תאריך: שליש ראשון של תשרי ה'תקל"ד = ספטמבר 1773. המסמך מפרט את תנאי ההעסקה ומכירת הבשר הכשר על ידי השוחט יוסף בן יהודה אשכנזי. אף ששמו הפרטי של השוחט פגום בשורות הפתיחה, ניתן להסיק כי מדובר ביוסף על סמך הופעת השם החוזרת לאורך שאר המסמך. תשלומי המשכורת נקבעו במתכונת דו-שבועית — בימי שני ובימי חמישי — כאשר יוסף מקבל 72.5 מדין בכל יום מן הקהילה באמצעות מערכת מיסוי הכשרות הידועה בשם "גבלה" (שורות 5, 18). המסמך נותר ללא חתימות וללא עדים.
Princeton Geniza Project description: Legal document, a one-year employment contract for the services of a kosher butcher. Location: Rashīd (Rosetta). Dated: First third of Tishrei 5534 AM = September 1773 CE. The document explains the terms of employment and sale of kosher meat by the shoḥet Yosef b. Yahuda Ashkenazi. Although the kosher butcher's first name is damaged in the opening lines, it can be inferred as Yosef based on its repetition throughout the remainder of the document. The salary payments are set to follow a twice-weekly structure on Mondays and Thursdays, with Yosef receiving 72.5 medin each day from the community through the "gabela" kashrut taxation system (ll. 5, 18).
