שרידים של איגרת מאת רב שמואל הכהן בן חפני גאון אל אחד מראשי הקהילה בקירואן, סביב שנת 1008. ייתכן שהאיגרת נשלחה אל הנגיד אברהם בן עטא. במכתב מתואר ההסכם שנכרת בין הכותב לבין רב שרירא גאון, וכן האזהרה מפני העברת כספים לישיבה האחרת, היא ישיבת פומבדיתא — קרי, ישיבתו של חתנו של הכותב, רב האיי גאון. המידע מבוסס על גיל, "במלכות ישמעאל", כרך ב', מס' 52.
Princeton Geniza Project description: ENA 4050: Fragments of a letter from Shemuel Gaon b. Hofni to one of the community leaders in Qayrawan. Around 1008. Maybe was addressed to the Nagid, Avraham b. Ata. Describes the agreement between the writer and Sharira Gaon and the warning from transferring money to the other Yeshiva, Pumbedita, meaning the Yeshiva of the writer’s son in-law, Hayya Gaon.
