רקטו: שריד מכתב בערבית-יהודית. מתוארך ככל הנראה למאה ה-13 או ה-14 על פי כתב היד. במכתב מדווח כי אדם מסוים נמצא במצב עגום ושרוי במעצר בית (תרסים). הוא מחויב בתשלום של חצי נקרה ליום, וכעת חובו עומד על 20 דרהם. הוא שלח מכתב ובו ביקש את עזרתו של דאוּד, אך ללא הועיל. עתה שלח מכתב נוסף, שובר-לב. ככל הנראה הכותב ממשיך ומבקש מהנמען לסייע לאיש האומלל הזה. ורסו: שריד מכתב בכתב ערבי. ממוען לבן או לדמות הקרובה לבן ("יא ולדי..."). הכותב דוחק בנמען "לעשות את מלאכתו" (אקצ׳י שע׳לכּ) ומזכיר גם "את האיש הזה" (אולי אותו אדם אומלל המוזכר ברקטו?). הוא קורא לזרז את המענה למכתבו (ג׳ואב אלכּתאב סרעה סרעה). דרוש עיון נוסף.
Princeton Geniza Project description: Recto: Letter fragment. In Judaeo-Arabic. Dating: Likely 13th or 14th century based on handwriting. Reporting that someone is in a sorry state and under house arrest (tarsīm). He is charged 1/2 nuqra a day, and now owes 20 dirhams. He sent a letter asking Dāʾūd for help to no avail. Now he has sent another, heartbreaking letter. The sender presumably goes on to ask the addressee to help this man. Verso: Letter fragment. In Arabic script. Addressed to a son or son-like figure ("yā waladī..."). Exhorting him to "do his work" (iqḍi shughlak) and also refers to "this man" (the same unfortunate man from recto?). Urges haste in responding to his letter (jawāb al-kitāb surʿa surʿa). Needs further examination.
