מכתב מיעקב בן ישעיה הכהן ליצחק חמדת הישיבה. הנמען הוא ככל הנראה אבו אסחאק אברהם בן נתן השביעי, שהיה מוכר גם בכינוי חמדת הישיבה. הכתב דהוי מאוד. צד הפנים כתוב כולו בעברית ומזכיר את ישועה הלוי ואת אדם בשם צדקה. כן מוזכרת בו סכנה בדרכים (שורה 20). בצד האחורי עובר הכתב ליהודית-ערבית. השולח מציין כי שמע שבידי הנמען נמצא מסמך מאת הח'ליפה (כתאב מן אמיר אלמומנין). הוא מבקש טובה מהנמען, חמדת הישיבה, ובכלל זה לשלוח דבר־מה עם אותו ישועה הלוי שהוזכר בצד הפנים. ייתכן שניתן יהיה לקרוא חלקים נוספים מהטקסט באמצעות צילום רב־ספקטרלי. Princeton Geniza Project description: Letter from Yaʿaqov b. Yeshaʿya ha-Kohen to Yiṣḥaq Ḥemdat ha-Yeshiva. The addressee might be Abū Isḥāq Avraham b. Natan ha-Sheviʿi who was also known as Ḥemdat ha-Yeshiva. Very faded. Recto is entirely in Hebrew and mentions Yeshuʿa ha-Levi and a certain Ṣedaqa. Also mentions danger on the roads (l. 20). Verso switches to Judaeo-Arabic. The sender states that he heard that the addressee is in possession of a document from the caliph (kitāb min amīr al-muʾminīn). He asks for a favor from the addressee, Ḥemdat ha-Yeshiva, including sending something with the same Yeshuʿa ha-Levi mentioned on recto. More of the text may be legible with multispectral imaging.
