מסמך משפטי מקהיר מיום ט"ו בשבט ה'תק"ה (1745 לסה"נ), המתעד את מינויו של יוסף הלוי לתפקיד חזן. בית הכנסת ח'אלאתי מסעודה, המוזכר במסמך, ממוקם ברובע הקראי במקום הקרוי "ח'ורונפיש" — שם הנושא עד היום ככינוי רחוב בקהיר. הקטע קוטלג במקור כמסמך קהילתי קראי, אולם מבנהו, המשלב הלשוני שלו וכתב היד של הסופר מצביעים דווקא על מקור רבני. כמו כן מוזכרת בו "תיבת" קהילת המגרבים בקהיר בהקשר של המינוי הקהילתי. על המסמך חתומים אליהו חסון, משה שלום ושמואל בן-נעים. בצדו האחורי של הקטע מופיע טקסט קצר ביהודית-ערבית הנוגע אף הוא לאותו יוסף הלוי.
Princeton Geniza Project description: Legal document from Cairo dated 15 Shevaṭ 5505 AM (= 1745 CE), describing the appointment of Joseph ha-Levi as cantor. The location given for the Khālatī Masʿūda Synagogue is in the Karaite quarter at "Khūrūnfish"– which still today is a contemporary street name in Cairo. This fragment was originally catalogued as a Karaite communal document however its layout, linguistic register, and scribal hand are Rabbanite– it also mentions the communal "chest of the Maghribī" congregation in Cairo in connection with the communal appointment.
