מכתב מטוביה בן דניאל (עד למילים הראשונות של שורה 31) ומהגאון שלמה בן יהודה (מהמשך שורה 31, וכן שורה 30 שהוכנסה בין שורות 29 ל-31 בכתב זעיר), בשם הישיבה, מן הרמלה, בעניין מאסרו של "חברנו אשר נסמך בישיבתנו" (ככל הנראה אפרים בן שמריה) ושחרורו לאחר מכן. תיארוך: סוף שנת 1024 לסה"נ (לפי גיל), אך הערכה זו עשויה להיות מוקדמת מדי בהתחשב בכך שטווח השנים המקובל לכהונתו של שלמה בן יהודה כגאון הוא 1025–1051 לסה"נ. בערך הקודם של PGP הופיעה גם הערכה של בערך 1030 לסה"נ, אך לא ברור על סמך מה (תאריך זה אינו מופיע בקטלוג CUDL). החבר ועמיתים אחדים מסיעתו הואשמו באשמות שווא, ככל הנראה על ידי יריביהם מתוך הקהילה הרבנית הש"אמית (השאמיה — יוצאי ארץ ישראל וסוריה) בפוסטאט. הודות להתערבותם של סהל, סעדיה ויוסף בן ישראל אלתֻסתרי, וכן אבו נצר דאוד הלוי בן אסחאק, הורה המושל לחקור בעניין ובסופו של דבר ביטל את ההאשמות. הגאון הנהיג ברמלה תפילות הודיה ובהן הוזכרו הן הח'ליפה והן המושל, וכן דאג לכך שיתקיימו תפילות דומות גם בירושלים. הוא קורא למנהיגי הקהילה הרבנית בפוסטאט לחתור לשלום. Princeton Geniza Project description: Letter from Ṭoviyya b. Daniel (as far as the first few words of line 31) and the Gaʾon Shelomo b. Yehuda (from the remainder of line 31, as well as line 30, inserted between lines 29 and 31 in minute script), on behalf of the academy, in Ramla, regarding the imprisonment and subsequent release of "our ḥaver who had been ordained in our academy’, (probably Efrayim b. Shemarya). Dating: the end of 1024 CE (per Gil) but this estimate might be too early given that the date range for Shelomo b. Yehuda's years of service as Gaʾon is conventionally 1025–1051 CE. This PGP entry also previously contained the estimate, ca. 1030 CE, but it is unclear on what grounds (this date is not listed in CUDL). The ḥaver and some colleagues had been falsely charged, apparently by rivals within the Shāmī Rabbanite congregation in Fusṭāṭ, but the intervention of the Sahl, Saʿadya, and Yosef b. Yisraʾel al-Tustarī and Abū Naṣr David ha-Levi b. Isḥāq caused the governor to investigate and dismiss the charges. The Gaʾon led prayers of thanksgiving in Ramla, mentioning both the caliph and his governor, and has arranged for the same to be done in Jerusalem.
