תיאור

חשבונות מפורטים מאוד בערבית-יהודית. התיארוך הוא ככל הנראה מהמאה ה-16 על סמך הפליאוגרפיה והמטבעות המוזכרים. בפינה השמאלית העליונה של הרקטו מופיע תאריך מלא, אך ללא ציון המאות: ג'ומאדא ב' שנת [9]44 להג'רה (1537 לסה"נ). המטבעות הנזכרים הם זהב עות'מאני "ג'דיד" וכן סוג כלשהו של מטבע "קדים" (אולי סטנדרט ממלוכי שיצא משימוש). למסמך נוסף מהמאה ה-16 שבו מופיעים שני סוגי המטבעות הללו זה לצד זה, ראו PGPID 26200. מטבע נוסף שמוזכר הוא "סלים" (בוורסו), ככל הנראה מטבע שהוטבע תחת הסולטאן העות'מאני סלים הראשון (שמלך בשנים 1512–1520 לסה"נ). הרישומים כוללים שמות ומקומות רבים: (ברקטו) סוק אל-חריר (שוק המשי), סוק אל-גור__[?], מחמד אל-באבי, ג'מאל אל-דין אל-וופאאי, עבד אל-קאדר אל-וופאאי; (בוורסו) סוק אל-ורק (שוק הנייר), יוסף אלמחלוי, אל-אמיר פיל__ ___[?] אל-ג'בלי.

Princeton Geniza Project description: Accounts in Judaeo-Arabic, very detailed. Dating is likely 16th-century based on the paleography and currencies referenced. There is a full date in the upper left corner of the recto but it does not include a hundreds place: Jumada II [9]44 AH (1537 CE).The currencies are Ottoman gold jadīd and some type of "qadīm" coinage (perhaps a defunct Mamlūk standard). For another 16th-century document where these two forms of currency are listed alongside one another, see: T-S NS 83.7 (PGPID 26200). Another currency is "Selim" (verso) likely a coinage minted under the Ottoman Sultan Selim I (r. 1512-1520 CE). The entries include many names and locations: (recto) sūq al-ḥarīr (silk market), sūq al-gor__[?], Muḥammad al-Bābī, Jamāl al-Dīn al-Wafāʾī, ʿAbd al-Qādr al-Wafāʾī, (verso) sūq al-waraq (paper market), Yosef אלמחלוי, al-Emir Fil__ ___[?] al-Jablī.
