מכתב מאסמאעיל בן יוסף בן אבי עקבה מאלכסנדריה, אל יוסף בן יעקב בן עוכל בפוסטאט. נכתב סביב שנת 1030. הכותב מתאר התקפה של ביזנטים בים, שבמהלכה נגרם נזק לסחורות שהיו על אוניות שהפליגו מהמגרב לאלכסנדריה. אנשי הביזנטים הרגו כמה מאנשי אחת האוניות. אבן עוכל ספג הפסד גדול במוצריו. Princeton Geniza Project description: Letter from Isma’il b. Yusuf b. Abi Uqba from Alexandria, to Yusuf b. Ya’aqub b. Awkal, Fustat. Around 1030. The writer describes an attack by Byzantines in the sea. They damaged merchandises that were on ships from the Maghreb to Alexandria. They killed several people from one of the ships.
