מכתב מאלעזר בן זכריה הכהן, דיין מעזה, אל עלי בן חיים הכהן בפוסטאט. כתוב בעברית ובערבית-יהודית. תיארוך משוער: ראשית המאה ה-12. השולח מתלונן על עוניו וקובל שאין בידו אפילו טלית לתפילה. מטרת המכתב היא לבקש סיוע בהשגת טלית או דמיה, ולהחזירה עמו ביד אבו אלחסן ברכאת. השולח מציין כי כבר פנה אל הנגיד באותו עניין.
Princeton Geniza Project description: Letter from the Gazan judge Elʿazar b. Zekharya ha-Kohen to ʿEli b. Ḥayyim ha-Kohen, in Fustat. In Hebrew and Judaeo-Arabic. Dating: ca. early 12th century. The sender complains of his poverty; he lacks even a ṭallit for prayer. The purpose of this letter is to ask for help obtaining a ṭallit or its price, and sending it back with Abū l-Ḥasan Barakāt. The sender has already written to the Nagid regarding the same matter.
