מכתב בקשת צדקה שבו המבקש מתאר את עצמו כמובטל, מורעב, ובא מארץ רחוקה — אל-רחבּה — ושהוא "גילה את פניו" בפני הנמען (ביטוי של השפלה והכנעה בפנייתו). המיקום אל-רחבּה עשוי להתייחס לעיר המבצר מימי הביניים במזרח סוריה על נהר הפרת (סמוך לאל-מיאדין של ימינו). קיים גם כפר בשם רחבּה בצפון לבנון, וייתכן שאליו הכוונה.
Princeton Geniza Project description: Letter requesting charity in which the petitioner describes that he is unemployed, starving, from a distant land (al-Raḥba), and has ‘uncovered his face’ to the addressee. The location al-Raḥba may refer to the medieval fortress town in eastern Syria on the Euphrates (near modern-day al-Miyādīn). There is also a village Raḥba in northern Lebanon. EMS/MCD.
