מכתב שנשלח מאלכסנדריה לפוסטאט בעניין ירושתה של אלמנה ויתומיה. תאריך משוער: סביבות 1080. הדיין היהודי המקומי הטיל חרם על כל מי שמסתיר מידע על רכוש השייך ליתומים, אך החרם לא הועיל. ככל הנראה הייתה גם ניסיון להשתלט על הרכוש באמצעות פנייה לערכאות לא-יהודיות. כותב המכתב מבקש מהנמען לפנות אל הנגיד, מבורך בן סעדיה, כדי שיתערב בעניין. הערה: המכתב עצמו אינו מתוארך, והתיארוך לשנת 1080 הוא הערכתו של גויטיין. צירוף: עודד צינגר. המסמך נדון אצל צינגר במאמרו משנת 2018 "'She Aims to Harass Him': Jewish Women in Muslim Legal Venues in Medieval Egypt", העוסק בנשים יהודיות בערכאות המשפט המוסלמיות במצרים של ימי הביניים.
Princeton Geniza Project description: Letter sent from Alexandria to Fustat regarding an inheritance of a widow and her orphans. Dating: ca. 1080 CE. The local Jewish judge (Heb. dayyan) issued a ban (Heb. ḥerem) against anyone who withheld information about property belonging to the orphans, but the ban did not help. Apparently there was also an attempt to take over the property by an appeal to non-Jewish courts. The writer of the letter asks the recipient to ask the Nagid, Mevorakh b. Saadya, to intervene.
