שתי איגרות ששוגרו לחסדאי אבן שפרוט (נפטר בערך בשנת 970): הראשונה מאת נכבד מבארי, והשנייה מאת יהודה בן יעקב מרומא. הטקסט כתוב בעברית מחורזת, ומדובר בהעתקות מאוחרות. האיגרת הראשונה מספרת על מות הקדושים של רבנים מאוטרנטו, וכוללת התנצלות בעבור אדם בשם שמואל שנשא עמו איגרות והעתק של ספר יוסיפון, נשדד על ידי שודדי דרכים, ויצא בעקבותיהם רכוב כדי לנסות להשיב את הגזלה. לפי גויטיין, כבר במאה העשירית עמד רופא בראש הקהילה היהודית בבארי שבדרום איטליה — עיר שנודעה בזכות תלמידי החכמים שבה.
Princeton Geniza Project description: Two epistles addressed to Ḥasday ibn Shaprut (d. c. 970), the first from a notable of Bari, the second from Yehuda b. Yaʿaqov of Rome. In rhymed Hebrew. These are later copies. The first letter narrates the martyrdom of certain rabbis of Otranto and offers an excuse for a certain Shemuel who was bearing letters and a copy of the book of Yosippon and was robbed by bandits and who rode against the bandits to try to get them back.
