מכתב ממוסא בן יצחק בן חסדא, השוהה במצרים התיכונה, אל יוסף בן עוכל. כתוב בערבית-יהודית. תיארוך: ראשית המאה ה-11. זהו אחד משני מכתבים שבהם הוא מבקש בדחיפות מזומנים בשל הקשיים הכרוכים בקציר הפשתן ובעיבודו. קיימת תחרות עזה על כוח העבודה, והפועלים דורשים תשלום מראש עבור ניפוץ הפשתן וכתישת הפואה (שורש הצביעה). הוא טוען (בנימה ידידותית אך דחופה) כי בעיות תזרים המזומנים שלו מאיימות לפגוע בכלל הפעילות. לדבריו, הפועלים דורשים שכר גבוה במיוחד וכן תשלום מקדמה. כמו כן, הוא מתקשה למצוא ספינה שתשנע את חבילות הפשתן והפואה שלו דרך בוציר. נוסף על כך, הכיסוי ששלח הנמען עבור אברהם (החולה) קל מדי וזול מדי, ולכן הוא מתבקש לשלוח כיסוי אחר, הפעם כבד (שורות 11–13 בצד ההפוך).
Princeton Geniza Project description: Letter from Mūsā b. Yiṣḥaq b. Ḥisda, in middle Egypt, to Yosef b. ʿAwkal. In Judaeo-Arabic. Dating: Early 11th century. One of two letters (see also PGPID 4248) in which he urgently requests cash due to the challenges of the flax harvest and processing operations. There is competition for labor, with workers demanding advance payment for scutching flax and pounding madder, and he claims (in a friendly but urgent way) that his cash-flow problems are threatening the entire operation. He claims the workers are demanding premium wages and advance payment. He is also having difficulty finding a boat to ship his flax and madder bales via Busir. Moreover, the covering that the addressee sent for Avraham (who is sick) is too light and cheap. He is asked to send another one, but heavy this time (v11–13). MR/ASE
