מכתב בקשה לצדקה מאת מנצור בן אברהים אבן נחום אל הנגיד שמואל בן חנניה, בערבית-יהודית. הכותב פותח בכך שהוא אחיה של אשתו של החזן מאל-רחבה. בהמשך הוא מזכיר לנגיד שהוא עצמו עזר לו פעם, "בימי אל-מאמון" (ככל הנראה הוזיר שירש את אל-אפצ'ל), כשנתן לו או הלווה לו עשרה דינרים כדי לחלץ אותו מערבות על חכירת מסים (צ'מאן) שעליה הוטלה האחריות על שמואל. כמו כן מופיע המונח "אמארה" (ייתכן שמדובר במשהו הקשור לשלטון). חלקים מן השורות הללו מחוקים. עתה הגיע הגורל גם לכותב: אשתו נפטרה, על כתפיו מוטלת פרנסת שלושה ילדים, וראייתו נחלשה (צ'רה בצרה).
Princeton Geniza Project description: Letter of appeal for charity from Manṣūr b. Ibrāhīm Ibn Naḥum to the Nagid Shemuel b. Ḥananya. In Judaeo-Arabic. The sender opens by mentioning that he is the brother of the wife of the cantor from al-Raḥba. He then reminds the Nagid that he actually helped him once, "in the time of al-Maʾmūn" (presumably the vizier who succeeded al-Afdal) by giving or loaning him 10 dinars to get out of a tax concession guarantee (ḍamān) for which Shemu’el was being held accountable. Also uses the term "imāra" (something to do with the state?). Parts of these lines are crossed out. Now, fate has caught up with the sender. His wife has died, he has three children to support, and his vision is weak (ḍarra baṣruh). (ASE/MR, based in part on information in CUDL)
