מכתב ממשה גאילייון אל מאיר בן־נעים בקהיר. תאריך המכתב מצוין לפי הפרשה הלפני־אחרונה במחזור השנתי: "בסדר הרנינו גוים עמו" (דברים לב, מג) מתוך פרשת האזינו. הכותרת אינה כוללת ציון שנה, אך אזכור הנמען מאיר בן־נעים תומך בהערכה שהמכתב נכתב בין השנים 1775–1825. הכותב עובר במהלך המכתב בין ערבית־יהודית לעברית, עם איותים לא־עקביים ולעיתים שגויים. הפתיחה מזכירה את אליהו פראנסיס ואתרוגים: חג הסוכות היה במרחק של כשבוע על פי הפרשה הנזכרת בכותרת. בהמשך מוזכרים פוליסה ואבו שמעון. בנספח למכתב מבקש משה ממאיר לפתוח ולקרוא את המכתב המצורף אל אליהו פר[אנסיס].
Princeton Geniza Project description: Letter from Moshe Ghaylioun (גאילייון) to Meʾir Ben-Naʿim, in Cairo. Dated in the penultimate parsha of the liturgical calendar: "בסדר הרנינו גוים עמו" (Deut. 32:43) from Seder Haazinu. The heading does not include a year, but mention of the letter's recipient Meʾir Ben-Naʿim supports an estimate of 1785-1825 CE. The writer switches between Judaeo-Arabic and Hebrew throughout the letter, with some inconsistent and erratic spellings. The opening section mentions Eliyyahu Franses and etrogim: the holiday of Sukkot was roughly one week away based on the parsha mentioned in the heading. Later on the letter mentions a polisa and Abū Shimʿon. In the addendum, Moshe asks Meʾir to open and read the enclosed letter to Eliyyahu Fr[anses]. MCD.
