מסמך משפטי (הסדר חוב) שהוצא בבית דין של קאדי במדרסה אלמֻסַלַּמִיַּה בדמיאט. כתוב בכתב ערבי, עם הערת תיוק בערבית-יהודית. מתוארך לעשירי ברביע אלאוול 945 להג'רה (1538 לסה"נ). בהקדמה למהדורתה מציינת ג'יין הת'אווי כי "תקציר המקרה המשפטי, המתוארך ל-945 להג'רה / 1538 לסה"נ, מתאר את הסדרת חוב שהיו חייבים שני אחים לאיש מכובד ובולט בפרובינציה ולבנו. הנושה העיקרי שלהם הוא אברהם קסטרו (נפטר 967 להג'רה / 1560 לסה"נ), מנהל המטבעה של מצרים בראשית תקופת השלטון העות'מאני... האחים אבו אלבקאא ואבו אלעז [בני בֻּדַיר] חייבים ליוסף קסטרו — ודרכו, כפי שמתברר, גם לאביו אברהם — 1,500 נצף פצ'ה, ככל הנראה מהלוואה... כפי שמוסבר בצד השמאלי של גב המסמך, הם ממשכנים שלושה רבעים מבעלות על ספינה כביטחון לחוב זה."

Princeton Geniza Project description: Legal document (debt settlement) issued by a qāḍī court in the Musallamiyya madrasa of Damietta. In Arabic script, with a Judaeo-Arabic filing note. Dated: 10 Rabīʿ I 945 AH (1538 CE). In the introduction to her edition, Jane Hathaway notes that this "court case summary, dated 945 AH/1538 CE, describes the settlement of a debt owed by two brothers to a prominent provincial notable and his son. Their chief creditor is Abraham Castro (d. 967 AH/1560 CE), director of Egypt’s mint early in the period of Ottoman rule.... The brothers Abū al-Baqāʾ and Abū al-ʿIzz [b. Budayr] owe Joseph Castro— and through him, as it turns out, his father Abraham—1,500 niṣf fiḍḍa, possibly from a loan.... As the left side of the document’s verso explains, they pledge a three-quarters share of a boat as security for this debt." (Hathaway, Ottoman-Era Documents from the Cairo Geniza, 37, 45-46)
