הרופא מנחם כותב לעמיתו, הנגיד אברהם בן הרמב"ם, על מאורעות שהתרחשו בעת שנסע אל הכפר טַנַאן (במחוז קַלְיוּבּיה הסמוך לקהיר) כדי לבקר חולה. אברהם בן הרמב"ם שימש כראיס אל-יהוד (ראש היהודים) בין השנים 1205–1237 לסה"נ, ונשא גם את התואר נגיד החל משנת 1213 לסה"נ.
Princeton Geniza Project description: The physician Menahem writes to his colleague, the Nagid Avraham Maimonides, about happenings when he traveled to the village Ṭanān (in the Qalyubiyya district near Cairo) to see a patient. Avraham Maimonides served as Rayyis al-Yahūd between 1205–1237 CE and also bore the title Nagid after 1213 CE. (Information from Mediterranean Society, III, p. 579)
