קטע ממכתב בערבית-יהודית קליגרפית, חלקו בפרוזה מחורזת. הכותב מתייחס למחסור במסמכים משפטיים תקינים — כתובה, בראאה (שטר פיטורין), מעשה ושטר — בקרב "יהודי העיר הזאת... מחמת החשש מן הסכנה". לא ברור לאיזה מקום הוא מתייחס ומהי טיב הסכנה. בהמשך מוזכרים ראש הסדר; העובדה שהשולח היה בתענית ביום מסוים; שהלך לחנותו של אדם מסוים בשבת; ושרצה לשאת תפילה (יוצר) או להוציא את ספר התורה בבית הכנסת. בצד האחורי מופיעים מספר ראשי תיבות (לבהרד איב תשצג), ומפתה לקרוא את האחרונים שבהם כתאריך — ד'תשצ"ג, כלומר 1032/33 לסה"נ. אולם זיהוי זה אינו ודאי.
Princeton Geniza Project description: Fragment of a letter in calligraphic Judaeo-Arabic, partially in rhymed prose. Refers to the dearth of proper legal documents (ketubba, barāʾa, maʿase, sheṭar) among "the Jews of this city. . . out of fear of the danger." It is unclear what location he is referring to or the nature of the danger. Further down, mentions the Rosh ha-Seder; that the sender was fasting on a certain day; that he went to a person's shop on the Sabbath; and that he wished to offer a prayer (a Yoṣer) or take out the Torah in the synagogue. On verso are several abbreviations (לבהרד איב תשצג), and it is tempting to read the last as the date 4793 = 1032/33 CE. But this is uncertain.
