מכתב בעברית מקהילת קייב בעניינו של יעקב בן ר' חנוכה. יעקב נתפס בידי נושים נוצרים ("גויים") של אחיו, שנרצח בידי שודדים. יעקב היה ערב להלוואה, ובני קהילתו פדו אותו בכך ששילמו חלק מן החוב. ככל הנראה, לאחר מכן שלחה אותו הקהילה לאסוף מקהילות יהודיות אחרות כמה שיותר מן הסכום שנותר לפירעון, והוא הגיע בסופו של דבר לפוסטאט. המסמך מתוארך למאה העשירית (המידע מבוסס על גויטיין ועל גולב ופריצק).
Princeton Geniza Project description: Letter in Hebrew from the community of Kiev on behalf of Yaʿaqov ben R. Hanukkah. He had been seized by Christian creditors (goyim) of his brother, who had been killed by brigands. Yaʿaqov had stood surety for the loan. The community had redeemed him by paying part of the debt. Now, apparently, they had sent Yaʿaqov to collect as much of what remained of the debt as possible from Jewish communities. He had evidently ended up in Fustat.
