שני דיפתיכונים של חשבונות שמורים היטב מ'אסקאלת מצר אל-קדימה' (נמל קהיר הישנה/פוסטאט). תאריך: ד'ו אל-חג'ה 962 - שוואל 964. המילה 'אסקאלה' בערבית או 'אסכלה' בטורקית נגזרת מהאיטלקית 'scala' הקשורה בדרך כלל לרציפי נמלי ים. החשבונות משתמשים בספרות ערביות מערביות ובספרות עבריות אלפאנומריות. דיפתיכונים אלה היו כנראה כרוכים כחלק מפנקס מסחרי ו/או מכסי רחב יותר. דורשים בחינה נוספת.
Princeton Geniza Project description: Two bifolios of well-preserved accounts from the "isqāla Maṣr al-Qadīma" (the port of Old Cairo/Fustat). Dated Dhūl-Ḥijja 962 – Shawwāl 964. The word "isqāla" in Arabic or "iskele" in Turkish is derived from the Italian "scala" commonly associated with the docks of maritime ports. The accounts make use of western Arabic numerals and Hebrew alphanumerals. These bifolios were likely bound as part of a broader commercial and/or customs ledger. Requires further examination. MCD.
