מכתב מעיאש בן צדקה, השוהה בבוציר, אל נהראי בן נסים בפוסטאט. לפי תיארוכו של גיל: בסביבות 1045 לספירה. עיאש עומד לסיים את שלב רכישת הפשתן בבוציר. המכתב כולל פרטים על קשיים בשוק (מחירים גבוהים במיוחד לפשתן, בעיות עם הספקים ושאלות של איכות הסחורה); על ניהול העסקים (הסדרי שותפות עם בורהאן ויוסף; משקלות ופנקסנות); ועל סוגי בדים (הבחנות בין סוגי הפשתן ובין סוגי הבד המוגמר ואיכויותיהם). במכתב מובעת תלונה על מצוקה משמעותית בשוק סחר הפשתן, שכן המחירים הגבוהים מונעים פעילות עסקית סדירה, ובעיות האיכות פוגעות במערכות היחסים המסחריות. בצדו האחורי של המכתב: חשבון שערך עיאש על ענייני העסקים עם שותפיו. כמו כן מוזכר במכתב נוצרי בשם יוהאניס.
Princeton Geniza Project description: Letter from ʿAyyāsh b. Ṣadaqa, in Būṣīr, to Nahray b. Nissim, in Fustat. Dating (Gil): ca. 1045 CE. ʿAyyāsh is about to finish the phase of buying flax in Būṣīr. The letter contains details about market difficulties (extremely high prices for flax, problems with suppliers, quality issues); business operations (partnership arrangements with Burhān and Yūsuf; weight measurements and accounting); types of textiles (type and quality distinctions for flax and finished cloth). The letter complains of significant market stress in the flax trade, with high prices preventing normal business operations and quality concerns affecting trade relationships.
