מכתב משולח לא מזוהה הממוען לאליהו הדיין. השולח רומז כמה פעמים ללימודים שלמד אצל אליהו כתלמידו. הוא מדווח שאדם בשם יוסף יצא לדרך בלי ידיעתו; הוא שלח אגרות מדי שבוע כדי להתעניין בשלומו, אך לא קיבל כל מענה. גם בני משפחתו של יוסף לא שמעו ממנו דבר. בחול המועד של פסח הפציר השולח באברהם בן הארון לעלות (לפוסטאט) כדי לחפש אותו, אך תגובתו לא הניחה את דעתו (ובהמשך מובא דיון על ירידת הדורות). הוא מוסר שאבן אלתוואזי יוסף חולה, אם כי ההקשר אינו ברור. בני טריפולי הגיעו והרגיעו את השולח שיוסף בריא ושלם. הוא דוחק באליהו לגרום ליוסף לשוב הביתה, שכן ישיבתו לבטלה בפוסטאט לא תועיל לנשים השבויות (אולי קרובות משפחתו של אדם זה?). כן שלח השולח שתי אגרות לר' יוסף, נוסף על אגרת קודמת ששוגרה ביד ח'ֻצַ'יְר. לפי כרטיס המפתח של גויטיין, השולח כותב מאלכסנדריה, ובנותיו של יוסף נמצאות בכלא, אך לא ברור היכן בדיוק נאמרים שני הפרטים הללו במכתב.

Princeton Geniza Project description: Letter from an unidentified sender addressed to Eliyyahu the Judge. The sender alludes several times to lessons that he learned as a pupil of Eliyyahu. Reports that a certain Yosef traveled without the sender's knowledge; he has sent letters every week inquiring after him but has not received a response. Yosef's family has also heard nothing from him. During ḥol ha-moʿed of Passover the sender urged Avraham b. Hārūn to go up (to Fustat) to look for him, but he did not respond in a satisfactory way (there follows a disquisition on the decline of the generations). He states that Ibn al-Tawwazī Yosef is ill, though the context is unclear. The Tripolitans arrived and assured the sender that Yosef is well. He urges Eliyyahu to make Yosef come home, because sitting idly in Fustat will not help the captive women (some of this man's family members?). The sender has also sent two letters to R. Yosef as well as prior letter sent with Khuḍayr. Goitein's index card suggests that the sender is writing from Alexandria and that Yosef's daughters are in prison, but it's not clear where either of these are stated in the letter.
