טיוטת מכתב בעברית, משנת 1043 לערך, מאת אפרים בן שמריה אל שלמה בן יהודה, גאון ירושלים (כיהן בשנים 1025–1051 לסה"נ). אפרים מבקש משלמה להודות "לזקן היקר והצדיק חסד [אלתסתרי], הנגיד הנכבד" על העזרה הרבה והנחרצת שהוא מעניק לו, ולאחר מכן מפרט את המחלוקות הפורצות בקהילתו. אפרים מורה לגאון להוכיח בחומרה את הניצים ולהחדיר בהם את ההכרח באחדות, ואף מבקש משלמה לכתוב מכתב לחסד ובו תודה על חלקו בהשכנת השלום.
Princeton Geniza Project description: Draft of a letter in Hebrew, ca. 1043, from Efrayim b. Shemarya to Shelomo b. Yehuda, the Gaon of Jerusalem (r. 1025–1051 CE). Efrayim requests Shelomo to thank “the dear and righteous elder Hesed [al-Tustari], the respected dignitary” for the powerful aid he affords him, and then details the strife occurring in his community. Efrayim directs the Gaon to strongly reprove the disputants and impress upon them the need for unity, furthermore asking Shelomo to write a letter to Hesed thanking him for his part in bringing peace.
