מכתב מאת עלי בן יחזקאל הכהן, השוהה בירושלים, אל הפרנס עלי בן חיים הכהן (המכונה גם אבו אלחסן עלון בן יעיש) בפוסטאט. השולח מדווח כי ביום הושענא הטיל חרם על כל מי שחייב כסף לאבן אלחג'אזיה, וכן על כל מי שלקח קבלות או מסמכים רשמיים או פנה לשלטונות וגרם להם נזק. באשר לייפוי הכוח הממנה את אבן אלחֻלַיבּי כסוכן (שליח), השולח מצוי עמו בסכסוך משפטי בפני סיידנא הנשיא. הסוכן הזה טוען כי הוא חייב לקבוצה של ילדים רק את הכספים שהתקבלו ממכירת מכל של חרובי שנבר (כִיאר שנבר, קסיה פיסטולה), וכי שילם זאת לעמראן כששהה במצרים. הוסכם ביניהם כי הסוכן ירד לרמלה כדי לבדוק את פנקסו (יכשׁף דפתרה), ולאחר מכן ייפגשו שוב בישיבה בפני אב בית הדין. הדיון מתעכב רק משום שסיידנא יצא לדמשק. זוהי גם הסיבה לכך שטרם נענתה השאלה ההלכתית ששלח אלשיח' אלזג'אג'.

Princeton Geniza Project description: Letter from ʿEli b. Yeḥezqel ha-Kohen, in Jerusalem, to the parnas ʿEli b. Ḥayyim ha-Kohen (aka Abū l-Ḥasan ʿAllūn b. Yaʿīsh), in Fustat. The sender reports imposing an excommunication on the day Hoshaʿna on whoever owes money to Ibn al-Ḥijāziyya and whoever took receipts or official documents or went to the government and "caused them damage." As for the power of attorney appointing Ibn al-Ḥulaybī as an agent, the sender is involved in a legal dispute with him before Sayyidnā al-Nasi. This agent states that he owes a group of children only the proceeds of a container of cassia fistula (khiyār shanbar) and that he paid it to ʿImrān when he was in Egypt. They agreed that the agent would go down to al-Ramla to check his ledger (yakshaf daftaruh) and they will reconvene in a session before the head of the court (Av Bet Din). This is only delayed because Sayyidnā has gone to Damascus. This is also why the legal queyr from al-Shaykh al-Zajjāj has not yet been answered.
