Princeton Geniza Project description: Recto: Draft of a legal testimony from Fustat. Dating: late 10th or early 11th century. Concerning the legitimacy of two cantors and slaughterers, the brothers Sar Shalom and Menuḥa b. Shelomo ha-Kohen ha-Ḥazzan Rosh Kalla b. Saʿadya. They had been removed from their position by the late Gaʾon Shemaʿya and his chief judge (av bet din) Ḥananya ha-Kohen. The witnesses claim that the two men had been slandered (המרכילים שקר דברו) and that they their knowledge and behavior are unimpeachable. They now ask for Ḥananya ha-Kohen to restore them to their position. Verso contains literary text in Hebrew as well as a jotting of a power attorney appointing a certain Nissim, signed by Avraham b. Samḥūn [...].
