תיאור

מכתב שנשלח אל נשיא, אולי בשם ישי, אולי בעכו. בעברית. התיארוך: ככל הנראה המאה ה-13, על סמך אזכורם של הדיין פרחיה (בן שמואל?) ויפת (בן אליה?), שני פקידים הידועים כמי שישבו בעכו. השולח מדווח כי איבד את כל רכושו. מלבד הדיין פרחיה ויפת, שנהגו בו כשורה, "האחרים" הם שהמיטו עליו את הרעה הזאת. מן היום שיצא מן העיר והחבורה הגיעה אל "הבאר הלבנה", נטשו אותו אנשים אלה ולא דיברו עמו ורכבו הלאה "כשדים". מוסלמי אחד שהתלווה אליו נהג בו בידידות והיטיב עמו. בלילה אחד חלה השולח מאוד, ונהגי הגמלים גנבו את כל רכושו והשאירו אותו ערום. עכשיו, "גם כאן אינם מאמינים לי, כי לא ראו את מכתבי/מסמכי, כי הוא אבד". הוא מבקש מן הנמען לכתוב מכתב חדש שיסביר "כיצד ראית אותי בעכו". הוא מבטיח שלעולם לא יסלח לאנשים שעוולו לו. בנספח הוא מבקש מן הנמען לשלוח בגד אל ר' משה החייט הסמוך לבית הכנסת, או אל ר' יחיאל.

Princeton Geniza Project description: Letter sent to a Nasi, possibly named Yishay, possibly in Acre. In Hebrew. Dating: Likely 13th century, based on the mention of the judge Peraḥya (b. Shemuʾel?) and Yefet (b. Eliyya?), two officials known to have been based on Acre. The sender reports that he has lost everything. Apart from the judge Peraḥya and Yefet, who treated him well, "the others" brought this evil upon him. From the day he left the city and the group came to "the white well," these people abandoned him and did not speak to him and rode off "like demons." One Muslim companion was friendly toward him and treated him well. He was very sick one night and the camel drivers stole all of his possessions and left him naked. Now, "even here they do not believe me because they have not seen my letter/document, because it was lost." He asks the addressee to write a new letter explaining "how you saw me in Acre." He promises that he will never forgive the men who wronged him. In a postscript, he asks the addressee to send a garment to R. Moshe the tailor near the synagogue, or to R. Yeḥiʾel.
