איגרת חוזרת בנוסח חריף ששלח משה בן מימון (פעל בערך 1168–1204 במצרים) לקהילות הכפר ברחבי הארץ, ובה הוא מבקש את תרומתן לפדיון שבויים. שני הדיינים הבכירים של פוסטאט, חייא בן יצחק ואפרים בן משולם, נשלחו לארץ ישראל, ככל הנראה כדי לפנות אל הצלבנים (הפרנקים), שייתכן ולקחו שבויים בעת שבזזו את בלביס ב-3 בנובמבר 1168. בין שורות האיגרת, ברווחים הרחבים, נכתבה דרשה בעברית. בצד האחורי טקסט בעברית שאינו קשור לעניין. לפי גויטיין, קיימים שלושה עותקים של אותה איגרת בכתבי יד שונים.
Princeton Geniza Project description: Strongly worded circular letter sent by Moses Maimonides (ca. 1168–1204 CE in Egypt) to the country-side community, soliciting them to contribute to the ransom of captives. The two senior judges of Fustat, Hiyya b. Yiṣḥaq and Efrayim b. Meshullam had been sent to Palestine, probably to approach the Franks, who might have taken captives when they sacked Bilbays on November 3, 1168.
