Princeton Geniza Project description: Legal record (#115) in a court register/pinqas from a Karaite beit din in Cairo (on f. 37v of Yevr.-Arab. I 328). Dated 1 Tammuz 5326 AM (1566 CE). Loan agreement and investment partnership in which Yiṣḥaq b. Moshe aka Maghribi ha-Qaraʾī receives 70 gold peraḥīm (ashrafī) from Moshe b. Meʾīr aka (name omitted). The profit from the partnership is split into two equal shares and Moshe grants Yiṣḥaq authority to utilize the funds as he sees fits in commercial transactions. There is also a stipulation that 5 of the 70 peraḥīm will remain in the hand of Moshe and, in turn, Yiṣḥaq grants him authority to transfer the funds to his wife in monthly payments of 1 peraḥ to cover "the needs of her household." This arrangement carries the implication that Yiṣḥaq will likely be traveling for business and thus needs to ensure the financial well-being of his family for five months while he is absent. MCD.
