מכתב מאת יחזקאל בן נתנאל, ככל הנראה מקלּיוּב, אל חלפון בן נתנאל באלכסנדריה. התיארוך: לאחר כ"ב בטבת = 15 בדצמבר 1139. יחזקאל מעדכן את חלפון על מה שאירע מאז ביקורו אצלו באלכסנדריה. המסע בנילוס היה קשה ונמשך זמן רב. ימים אחדים לאחר שובו לקהיר, יצא אל הכפר בנהא כדי לסחור במשי יקר. גם אבו אסחאק היה שם, אולם הכותב לא זכה להזדמנות להיפגש עמו. לאחר שסיים את ענייניו, חזר יחזקאל לקהיר או לקלּיוּב, מקום מושבו הקבוע. בנו הצעיר, אבו אלפח'ר, נשאר אצל חלפון באלכסנדריה, והכותב מבקש מאחיו להשיב לו טובה. לקראת סוף המכתב מובאות ידיעות על מאסרו של הוזיר רצ'ואן. יחזקאל מתנצל על הכתיבה הנחפזת — ואכן, הוא משמיט מילים ואותיות ושוגה במקומות נוספים, לרבות טעות בתאריך המכתב. אף שיש ספק לאיזה תאריך כיוון, יתר התאריכים הנזכרים במכתב, בציון יום השבוע והחודש, מתאימים לשנת 1139. Princeton Geniza Project description: India Book (IB) IV,54 (ח59). Letter from Yeḥezqel b. Netanʾel, probably in Qalyūb, to Ḥalfon b. Netanʾel, in Alexandria. Dating: after 22 Tevet = December 15, 1139 CE. Yeḥezqel updates Ḥalfon about what has happened since his visit to him in Alexandria. The trip on the Nile was difficult and took a long time. A few days after he returned to Cairo, he went to the village of Banhā, to market expensive silk. Abu Isḥāq was also there, but the writer did not have the opportunity to meet him. After finishing his business, Yeḥezqel returned to Cairo or Qalyūb, his permanent residence. His younger son, Abū l-Fakhr, stayed with Ḥalfon in Alexandria, and the writer asks his brother to repay him a favor. Towards the end of the letter, there is news about the imprisonment of vizier Riḍwān. Yeḥezqel apologizes for the hasty writing. Indeed, he omits words and letters and made other mistakes, including an error in the date of the letter. Although there is doubt as to which date is meant, the rest of the dates mentioned in the letter, with day of the week and month, correspond to 1139 CE.
