מכתב מנהראי בן נסים בפוסטאט אל בן דודו ברהון בן צאלח אלתאהרתי, ככל הנראה במצרים, בסביבות שנת 1045 (לפי גיל). נהראי מציין בדאגה לברהון כי כבר שילם בפוסטאט לשליח האמיר, אבו אסחאק, סך של 150 דינרים, ומטריד אותו שהאמיר עדיין דורש ממנו את אותו הסכום באלכסנדריה. "אם חס וחלילה ימשיך לדרוש ממך תשלום לאחר שייוודע לו כי הסכום כבר נגבה ממני, הרי שעליך להזכיר לו את מכתבו שלו עצמו לשליחו אבו אסחאק, כדי שישיב לנו את אשר נטל מאיתנו." במכתב מוזכר גם משלוח של פנינים. כמו כן שולח נהראי את ברכותיו לח'לפה ממשפחת תאהרתי לרגל נישואיו לאישה ממשפחת עקבה. גויטיין תרגם קטע ממכתב זה בנוגע לביגוד ולצורך שחשו הסוחרים להקפיד על מראם החיצוני לא רק בשבתות ובחגים אלא גם בימי החול: "כאשר תגענה הספינות הסיציליאניות, אנא קנה עבורי שתי פרח'ות צרות באיכות מעולה שמחירן כשניים וחצי דינרים, ושני ת'ובים נאים בשווי של כדינר וחצי, והבא אותם עמך. ואם אתה, אדוני, תצא לדרך לפני הגעת ה[ספינות] הסיציליאניות, הבא לי שתי גלימות נאות בעלות מעט הדר, ומסור שניים וחצי דינרים ליוסף לרכישת שתי פרח'ות ולשליחתן, שכן אין לי דבר ללבוש בימי החול."

Princeton Geniza Project description: Letter from Nahray b. Nissīm, Fusṭāṭ, to his cousin Barhūn b. Ṣāliḥ al-Tāhartī, probably in Egypt, ca. 1045 (Gil). Nahray anxiously mentions to Barhūn that he has already paid the amīr's emissary, Abū Ishāq, 150 dīnārs in Fusṭāṭ; it concerns him that the amīr is still demanding the same from him in Alexandria. "If, God forbid, he continues to demand payment from you after he knows that it was already collected from me, then you will certainly remind him of his own letter to his emissary Abū Isḥāq, so that he will return to us what he has taken from us." Also mentions a shipment of pearls. Nahray also sends his blessing to Khalfa from the Tāhartī family on the occasion of his marriage to a woman from the ʿUqba family. Goitein translates a snippet of this letter in Med. Soc., 4:157 (at n. 49) regarding clothing and the need the merchants felt to attend to their appearance not only on the Sabbath and holidays, but on weekdays: "When the Sicilian boats arrive, please buy me two narrow farkhas of excellent quality costing about 2½ dinars and two attractive thawbs worth about 1½ dinars and bring them with you. And if you, my lord, depart before the arrival of the Sicilian [boats], bring me two attractive robes which have some elegance, and give 2 ½ dinars to Joseph for the purchase and forwarding of two farkhas, for I do no have anything to wear on weekdays."
