תיאור

מכתב מאבו נצר בן אברהם, מאלכסנדריה, אל חלפון בן נתנאל הלוי, בפוסטאט. בערבית-יהודית. המכתב נכתב ב-12 בנובמבר 1141. המכתב כולל מידע על המסחר במשי ובפנינים. בנוסף, אבו נצר מדווח על האופן שבו פעל ביחס לכיסוי ראש יקר ערך שניתן לו על ידי המשורר הספרדי יהודה הלוי. כמו כן מועברות במכתב ידיעות שהביאו נוסעים מספרד על פטירתם של שני רבנים ספרדים דגולים. (המידע על פי פרנקל.) נוסף על כך: "אני וכל אדם בבית היינו חולים במשך ארבעים יום. לא יצאתי מן הבית... מכתבך הגיע ובו ביקשת ממני למסור את חבילות המשי לאבו עומר אבן אלבגדאדי אללפאת. ואולם הוא לא קיבל דבר, שכן אין לי איש שיוכל להוביל אותן אליו; אחי אבו עומר חולה מאז הגיעו מקהיר, ואין לי מי שיכול לפעול בשמי, שכן גם אבו אלנג'ם (המשרת או השותף הקרוב של הכותב, הנזכר לעיתים קרובות) ובנו חולים. אבקש מהאל שיפנה את הסוף לטובה." בסוף המכתב נאמר: "ברגע שאקבל מעט כוח, לא אישאר בעיר זו אפילו שעה אחת." ראו כרטיסיית גויטיין מס' 27107.

Princeton Geniza Project description: IB IV, 78 (ח83). Letter from Abū Naṣr b. Avraham, in Alexandria, to Ḥalfon b. Netanel ha-Levi, in Fustat. In Judaeo-Arabic. The letter was written in the 12th of November 1141. The letter contains information about trade in silk and pearls. In addition, Abu Nasr reported how he acted in regard to a precious headgear given to him by Yehuda ha-Levi, the Spanish poet. The letter also transmits news from Spanish travelers about the passing away of two great Spanish Rabbis. (Information from Frenkel.) In addition: "I and every human being in the house was ill for forty days. I have not left the house. . . . Your letter arrived in which you asked me to deliver the bales of silk to Abū ʿUmar Ibn al-Bahgdadī al-Laffāt. However, he has not received a thing, for I have nobody who could carry them to him; my brother Abū ʿUmar is ill since his arrival from Cairo and I have nobody able to act for me, for Abū l-Najm (the writer's factotum or partner often mentioned) and his son are ill also.
