מכתב מפורט בענייני מסחר ועניינים אישיים שנשלח מאלכסנדריה לפוסטאט. המכתב מתאר את המצב הקשה ששרר באלכסנדריה בעת מצור, ככל הנראה המצור שהטיל אלאפצ'ל בשנת 1094, לאחר שניזאר מצא מקלט באלכסנדריה בעקבות מותו של הח'ליפה אלמסתנצר. הכותב מספר שחלה במחלה קשה במשך שישה חודשים, וארבעה מתוכם היה מרותק למיטתו. הוא מתאר את משטר הטיפול שנקבע לו ומציין כי אנשים כבר התייאשו ממנו וחשבו שלא יחלים. פרנקל הציע שהכותב מתאר מגפה, המוכרת ממכתבים אחרים, אך כאן אין סימן ברור למגפה (הקריאה של המילה האחרונה בשורה 7 כ-al-nās אינה ודאית ואינה מתאימה לחלוטין להקשר). הכותב מדווח שלא ניתן להשיג באלכסנדריה פלפל, קינמון או ג'ינג'ר, ומבקש מהנמען לשמור את הסחורות הללו עבור הביזנטים, ומציין כי כל הביזנטים מתעתדים לצאת לפוסטאט מיד עם הגעתן של שתי ספינות מקונסטנטינופול. המידע מבוסס על פרנקל ועל גויטיין.

Princeton Geniza Project description: Detailed business and personal letter from Alexandria to Fustat. The letter narrates the difficult situation in Alexandria during a siege, probably al-Afdal's siege of 1094, when Nizar took refuge in Alexandria after the death of the caliph al-Mustansir. The writer was very sick for six months and bed-bound for four months. He describes the regimen he was prescribed, and says that people had given up on him. Frenkel suggests that the writer describes an epidemic, which is known from other letters, but here there seems to be no sign of an epidemic (the reading of the last word of line 7 as <em>al-nās</em> is tentative and does not completely fit the context). He reports that no pepper, cinnamon or ginger were available in Alexandria, and asks the recipient to keep these commodities for the Byzantines, saying that all Byzantines are set to leave for Fustat as soon as two ships from Constantinople arrive.
